Davao Restaurants – Mesa Filipino Moderne-SM Lanang Premier

Last Saturday we had planned to watch the Araw ng Dabaw's Parada Dabawenyo but my little girl went to sleep late at night on Friday, so we end up waking up at about 9am in the morning. Since the parade started already at 7am, we decided not to go, but instead we change our plan to go eat at Mesa - Filipino Moderne at SM Lanang Premier. My wife read reviews of this restaurant from other sites, and was intrigue about it since one of its owner is said to be Kiko Pangilinan husband of Megastar Sharon Cuneta.

We went to SM Lanang Premier late in the afternoon, it was a bit dark that time of the day, since it was about to rain. I'm just glad we arrive at SM Lanang before the rain started falling. Mesa can be located at the back of SM Lanang Premier fronting the dancing fountain.

When we arrive at Mesa the female attendant immediately accompanied us and brought us to this cone shaped place at the restaurant. I forgot to ask her if there is a name for such a place though. There were only a few customers when we arrived, maybe because it was raining that time. When the waitress handed the menu, I let my wife pick what food to order, I was busy then with my little daughter who just can't stop tinkering with the spoon. My wife ordered a Grilled Liempo Mesa Way - A Classic grilled pork belly (Php 185.00),  Soup Buntot - Double boiled oxtail and tripe soup (Php 290.00), Apahap(Seabass) or Lapu-Lapu (Grouper) - Pan fried with latik (fried coconut meat) (Php 495.00 - 90 Php per 100g). Our drinks are Sago't Gulaman (Php 60.00), Fresh Buko (Php 75.00) and Mango Juice (Php 75.00) and 4 cups of plain rice (Php 35.00 per cup). I think we had a total bill of Php 1,300+ service charge included. A bit too pricey for me though.

Let us forget the amount for the moment and let us go to the foods instead. Almost all their servings are good for 2-3 person, so this will be a great place for a group of friends or a family gathering to go to. As for the food we ordered, I like the Soup Buntot since I like eating with a soup as a partner. My wife loved the Lapu-Lapu, though she only ate a few of it, leaving me to finish a large amount of the fish. Our daughter is more of a liempo lover but like me she loves eating with soup. The drinks are served on almost a foot high glass.

I do love the place, especially the cone thing shape area we were in, it gives you some privacy. Just beside our area are two enclosed rooms on the restaurant which would be great for business gatherings. The staff are also on their toes, polite and attentive (They do have a service charge as I mentioned earlier hmmm).

So despite the price, we did enjoy and loved the meal so it makes up for it and I recommend Mesa to be one of the places to eat when you visit Davao City or SM Lanang Premier.

Dencios Kamayan in Fortune Homes Lanang Davao City

After going to church on a Sunday afternoon we decided to dine in a different restaurant or fast food chain. So we decided to go to Dencios at Lanang near Insular Hotel. Dencios has long been there and I don't know why Dad decided to have dinner there, I my self would rather want to eat at a different restaurant because I have already eaten on some branches of Dencios here in Davao City. As far as I can remember there's one in Damosa Gateway, one in SM Ecoland, and more.

We let Dad decide to take the order since it he who want to eat here, he ordered a lechon kawali, pork barbecue, chicken barbecue. Keona on the other hand paid no attention to what we are ordering because her eyes was focusing on the playground inside the restaurant. Below are some photos of what we have ordered and the place.

Dinner at Mandarin Tea Garden with Siblings and Hubby

My twin and my other siblings came over here in the city of Davao. My twin wanted to buy laptop, a digital camera and cellphone. She wanted hubby to accompany her with buying the laptop because hubby is a computer engineer and he knows about computer specifications and he already researched which brand is good.

After buying everything she wants to buy, she treat us with a dinner at Mandarin Tea Garden. We ordered supreme siomai which I did not eat because I have an allergy with shrimps. We also ordered pancit guisado, beef ampalaya, beef steak and fish fillet. I was the one who consumed almost all the fish fillet. It's very delicious and guilt-free because I know it's not gonna trigger neither me nor my daughter's allergy plus the fact that it's not laden with so much cholesterol.

We also ordered durian shake, my favorite. My niece had her four season juice and fresh fruit salad. Having able to bond with my siblings is a good feeling especially when we are feasting yummy foods in front of us:).

Sharing to you some photos:

Shawarma

I have always wanted to try shawarma. The other day, me and hubby dropped by at Robinson's looking for Keona's milk which was unavailable in other department stores. We saw a foodcart of shawarma but we did not buy anymore because I was full.

Yesterday, on our way home from Mintal, we dropped by at SM to buy Keona's milk because my officemate told me it's available there. After buying groceries, we saw the same foodcart of shawarma and since it was snacks time, we bought shawarma so that we can taste it.

It tasted good, we chose the one with cheese. I like the spicy taste mixed with sauce and some veggies.

The name of the food cart is Leylam shawarma. Here are some of their specialties:

  • beef shawarma
  • beef shawarma with cheese
  • beef shawarma all meat with cheese
  • shawarma rice
  • shawarma rice with egg

I want to taste kabab next time...Have a great weekend friends!

Eat all you can at Tita D's

Food tripping is what we usually do during December. I have been hearing about Tita D's Buffet from my workmates. They said the food is great, eat all you can for only Php99.00 excluding drinks. They have been there recently but me and hubby did not go with them because we had a "date" of our own during that time. When I told hubby about it, he right away agreed with me to have a lunch there because he has an overtime (OT) pay anyway.LOL. So it's his treat :).

We went there early, around 10:45 in the morning. There were only few people when we arrived. We right away looked at their food display and it is indeed really good, plenty for a hundred pesos and really yummy. They also cater and accept functions for weddings, birthdays, etc. They have a space upstairs. We were rally stuffed when we got out of Tita D's:). Tita D's is located at IƱigo St., (formerly Anda St.,) Davao City.
