Delicious Snack Buffet at Golden Brown Restaurant

It was a Saturday afternoon, we have just visited the hospital for my daughter's immunization. We are starving already. We spent almost 3 hours waiting at the hospital on our daughter's doctor, there were only 15 patients on the list, we were number 13. I guess the good doctor really spent an ample amount of time to patients.

Our usual destination for a snack would be a fast-food chain, there was plenty of that on the area nearby. But my wife just remembered that Golden Brown Restaurant was offering a snack buffet, although it was a couple of years ago, we were hoping they would still be offering it. As it turns out, they still have their usual snack buffet in the afternoon. We checked what's being served and we decided to go for it. During that day, they were serving pancit bihon, lomi, lumpia shanghai, dinuguan and puto, cassava cake, brownies and more. Of course I love the dinuguan and photo combo, I also ate plenty of that lumpia shanghia.  I guess for a price of Php95  it was a money saver. Oh and there was a free glass of iced tea to go with it. We saved a lot eating there, compared to a fast-food chain. And as usual, the place is still as nice as it was the last time we were there.

Golden Brown Restaurant only offers their snack buffet in the afternoon on Monday to Saturday. You can visit them at Gov. Duterte Street, Davao City. Their phone number is 227-6464.

Here are some photos during our visit.

Mama Da's Barbeque Seafood at Ihaw Ihaw

This is the second time I was able to eat at this place. The first time was with my friends and at that time, I forgot to bring my camera. Because of that, I always make sure to bring my camera at all times.

Last Saturday my wifey had a whole day seminar, so after work I haven't decided yet where to eat lunch. So it just in my mince why not Mama Da, I really want to feature their place on this site.

Mama Da's Barbeque Seafood at Ihaw Ihaw is located at Torres St., just near Rizal Memorial Colleges. Its just along the highway so you can spot it easily. If you had no car, it can be accessible via a motor cab, you can either take one near Fairlanes or at Quirino,  Davao Doctors Hospital. Motor cab fair is only 7 Php. The place is owned by Linda Garcia Alonzo of the Nanay Bebeng clan and the Gingerbread Bakeshop.

Viands ranges from 45 to 60 Php, a bit pricey if you were to compare it to a Carinderia, but their serving are plenty and the food taste delicious. You can choose from a variety of dishes, ranging from Humba to Adobo, Fish dishes and vegetables. You just pick want you want to eat, (I mean point hehehe, in Philippines its what we called turo-turo), and the waitress will serve your food on your table.

The place is also nice, it's clean and well ventilated. The place is not air conditioned, if it is I guess their prices would drastically go up. The place though has plenty of ceiling fans to cool you. I went there at noon, and it was hot outside, but inside Mama Da's you can barely notice the heat outside. The place can cater at most 50 persons.

Delicious and Tasty Chicken at Goldie Chicken House - Davao City

If you like chicken, well fried chicken to be exact. Better check out Goldie Chicken House at Ilustre Street.

When it comes to chicken, for me they have the tastiest and juiciest chicken, that can rival that of Jollibee and Mcdonalds. Me and my wife love to eat there because also of their affordable price. I'm not sure of the correct prices of Jollibee and Mcdonalds when it comes to chicken, as far as I can remember, a 1 piece chicken meal in Jollibee or Mcdonalds can cost you almost 80 pesos (a one piece chicken part, one soft drinks and a rice) and that is good for only a single person. At Goldie, me and my wife usually order a Thrift Treat (Large) which can cost us 142 pesos, Expensive? well lets look at the content. A Thrift Treat (Large) has 6 slices of chicken part (YES 6 chicken parts compare to a single part on your favorite food chain), a rice and a macaroni or potato salad. Since there is only 1 rice we would order an extra rice, and an ice tea which cost 18 pesos. Usually our bill would range at about 180 pesos, is it worth it? of course.

The only downside of the place well, its not air conditioned, only ceiling fans are in used, so come lunch time it could get a little hot, and the place also is not that big, it could accommodate maybe 20 to 30 person the most. But only few people dine in at the place, most of their clients would order in advance through phone call, and mostly are take out orders.

So if you crave for some tasty and yet affordable chicken. Don't hesitate to visit Goldie Chicken House.

Goldie Chicken House is located at Amgar Plaza, Ilustre St, Davao City. Tel No.: 226-3846

Dencios Kamayan in Fortune Homes Lanang Davao City

After going to church on a Sunday afternoon we decided to dine in a different restaurant or fast food chain. So we decided to go to Dencios at Lanang near Insular Hotel. Dencios has long been there and I don't know why Dad decided to have dinner there, I my self would rather want to eat at a different restaurant because I have already eaten on some branches of Dencios here in Davao City. As far as I can remember there's one in Damosa Gateway, one in SM Ecoland, and more.

We let Dad decide to take the order since it he who want to eat here, he ordered a lechon kawali, pork barbecue, chicken barbecue. Keona on the other hand paid no attention to what we are ordering because her eyes was focusing on the playground inside the restaurant. Below are some photos of what we have ordered and the place.

Dinner at Patok sa Manok Restaurant in Davao City

It's been quite long since hubby and me have brought Keona out for a stroll. We have been busy lately for some priorities and time adjustments and so last weekend, we decided to bond together with our little girl. We first had our lunch at Jollibee then off we went to SM City to witness the cyber expo there. Unfortunately, the crowd are so huge that we were not able to really get closer to the stage at the event center and just roam around the mall. Keona had fun playing on the toy car display and the salesperson assigned in the area was so kind to let Keona play with it. We then chose clothes for her and we were able to buy one.

On our way home, we dropped by a restaurant and eat there. It is located in Lanang Davao city, just near Davao Insular Hotel entrance. It was not a peak hour so Keona was very carefree roaming around the place as if it's hers.hehehe

Sharing to you some photos:

We actually frequent this restaurant because they offer a wide array of foods and the taste is really delicious. Sometimes, we just take out our order. My FIL's favorite in this restaurant are the kare-kare, kinilaw and milkfish. It was really a delight dining at this restaurant. They also accept deliveries. Have a nice day friends.

Golden Brown Restaurant

Me and my hubby celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary with a lunch date at Golden Brown Restaurant at Ilustre Street, Davao City last December 28, 2010. I would have wanted us to have our date at a restaurant somewhere in Ecoland but it's just too far away. So when we decided that we have to eat just near the downtown area, Golden Brown right away comes to my mind.

We used to frequently eat at Golden Brown when me and hubby were still dating since it is just very accessible to where we usually shop or stroll. I also love their foods and the ambiance is very cozy. The very efficient and approachable waiters is also a big plus when dining at this restaurant.

As usual, hubby ordered his favorite kinilaw while I ordered lechon kawali (deep fried pork belly). We arrived there at around 11:00 o'clock in the morning and we are the first customer. I asked the waiter if I can take photos and he flashed his big smile nodding, saying yes.

Here are some photos I took:

and hubby's fave kinilaw
They also have a merienda (snack) buffet available from 2:00 - 6:00 o'clock in the afternoon. The cost is only 85 pesos but look at the buffet table and some few foods already served. It's a heavy snack! Yes, we have tried it before and it's really worth the 85 pesos you'll spend, given the plenty choices of foods they serve.

this is the merienda buffet table and a few foods already served. Only few yet because that was only 11:00 o'clock in the morning and their snack buffet starts at 2:00 o'clock in the afternoon.
