Luxury Hotel - Jade Dragon's Suites - Davao City

My wife got invited to the blessing of Jade Dragon's Suites last Sunday.  Although she was the only one invited, she wanted me to come along, and with  a go signal from the one who invited her, off we went to the blessing of the place.

Jade Dragon's Suites is located along Aurora Jacinto St., Davao City.  You can get there by PUJ via the Jacinto Piapi route. It is just a few steps away from the main road. When we arrived at the place the female attendant was quick to accommodate us (they have attentive and friendly staff). She led us to the owner of the Hotel, the owner was very friendly and he told us lots of great things to expect from this Hotel.

I can go on and on about the great visions this owner has for the place. But I'll leave it for now. Lets get on about the place. The Jade Dragon's Suites has 5 floors, and has a total of 28 rooms. Their room rates are shown below:

Standard Room Rates

Standard Room - Php.750.00
Deluxe - Php. 850.00
Family - Php. 1,600.00
Junior Suite - Php. 2,000.00
Suite - Php. 2,600.00

Amenities offered:

  • Free scheduled shuttle service going and back to Gaisano Mall
  • Free internet wifi
  • Free Breakfast on standard room rates
  • Free Baggage Counter service
  • Free Blood Pressure taking and first aid
  • All rooms are furnish with LED Cable TV, Hot and Cold Shower, Air condition rooms, pabx telephone system
  • Elevator Service
  • Security Services
  • Equipped with 24 hour Security Surveillance Cameras
  • Shuttle Service
  • Restaurant and function room (Namely the Ching's Resto-Kaffee and the Lutong Bahay atbp.)

Its a good rate if you ask me, considering it is in the heart of the downtown area, and if you are in Davao for the Kadayawan and Araw ng Dabaw event, this would be a great place to stay since you would be near the  starting point of the parade.

During the blessing of the rooms, I stayed behind to get photos of the rooms, and also to get the feel of the rooms. The Standard rooms though not so big is comfortable just like the other rooms in the place, and for 750 pesos plus all the amenities mentioned above it is luxury in its most affordable price. The TV set though for the suite is much larger compared to the Standard rooms, and the suites have a small balcony  allowing you  to watch the scene outside.

After the Ceremony we were treated with lunch, we had our lunch at Ching's Resto-Kaffee. The first thing I noticed at Ching's are the beautiful paintings that are being displayed. Those paintings are from various artist here in Davao. Davao artists can exhibit their piece of art in the place, it is an agreement made by the owner to some of Davao's artist. So this coming Araw ng Dabaw this would be a good place to check out.

Sweet Pineapple: Proudly Davao Produce

Before I am a stay-at-home mom (just for 1 week because Mom and Papa are on vacation in Singapore), I joined my colleagues in having a mobile library in Subasta, Calinan, Davao City. It's a community outreach which our boss prefers to label "resource sharing". I was very excited because I have never been to the place.

Our partner for this "resource sharing" is DAVCO or Davao Agricultural Ventures Corporation owned by the Florendos. They gave us pineapple and it was really very sweet. We were given a free lunch at their canteen and we were able to roam around their place in Cawayan, Calinan.

In one of the forums I have attended recently, the speaker said that Davao is one of the top producers of pineapple in Asia. Wow!

Sharing to you some photos...

Vacation for our Parents

My parent's wedding anniversary is coming this March. Me and my sisters, the 4 of us, are planning to give a special gift to our parents. Since the four of us all have stable jobs, we decided to give our parents a vacation tour, and let them travel in Turkey. I'm really sure they would be surprised, because it's out of the country, a place where they have never been, even me and my sister have not been in Turkey.

We searched the net and its a nice place to spend a vacation in. We even found a site that have a holiday accommodation. We already book the two of them in a Lycia villa rentals. I'm sure they are gonna be thrilled when they begin to see those lovely landscape and beaches. My parents really love going to the beach swimming in its turquoise waters. We may be shelling out bucks from our pockets but the joy on our parents face when they will get the news is worth every money me and my sister would spend.

Kwek-Kwek: My Fave Street Food

My fave kwek-kwek

condiments that makes kwek-kwek yummy

Me and hubby were strolling on the streets just having fun to have the "feel" of the pasko fiesta celebration. There are a lot of people on the street. Some are just strolling as well, like us. What I love are the foods. There are many to choose from.

One of my favorite street foods here in Davao City is the kwek-kwek. It's just actually an egg, boiled, soaked in a flour then fried. What makes it delicious is the condiments. It has to be soaked in a yummy spicy vinegar mixed with a little chilli powder to have the spicy taste and a little salt. You can add sliced cucumber or a seaweed which is readily available if you want.

Christmas Party at Mahan Beach Resort

We had a Christmas party at Mahan Beach Resort. We decided to hold our party in the beach for a change. We usually have our party in our workplace but make it different this time.

We arrive early in the morning and most cottages were already occupied except for one which was reserved for us. The function hall was filled with people partying, playing parlor games and eating.

When we were already settled and all our things were in place, our "angles" right away grilled the pork meat and fish we brought with us. Keona, me and hubby right away soak ourselves in the beach because the water is gradually receding since it was going low tide.

We were really having fun especially our angels. They played hide and seek, throw beach balls, swim and had fun in the water.

I like Mahan Beach Resort because it's very accessible. It's just near to the barge wharf so we can just walk from there. There was also no corkage so we can just bring with us foods and drinks we want without worrying of corkage fees. It is not also as crowded compared to other more famous beaches in Samal island.

Here are some photos of the resort...
