Kadayawan 2010 Activities


Kadayawan festival 2010 is set on August 16-22, 2010. The city of Davao is in it's festive atmosphere once again in preparation for this yearly celebration. Malls are starting to dress up their establishments with native materials welcoming the fast approaching festivities.

Come and witness these lined up activities for the kadayawan festival...
  • Kadayawan Tabo: Magnegosyo ta Day Fair - (August 16-22,2010) A trade fair to feature display of crafts and crops made by women's groups and grassroots entrepreneurs. It will be held at the lobby of the Sangguniang Panlungsod building.
  • Panagtagbo: Multicultural Performance - (August 16-19 and 21) This will be held at People's Park and NCCC mall. You can witness here the cultural and traditional dance, music,chants and indigenous costumes and crafts of the 10 distinguished tribes of Davao City.
  • Official launch of festival dubbed as Dayaw: Kadayawan Opening rites - (August 30, 2010 @ 6:30PM at Rizal Park. After the opening rites, at 8:00 o'clock in the morning, young ladies from various tribes in the city will showcase their talents and wits related to their culture they are representing in the Search for the Festival Gem called Hiyas ng Kadayawan. This will be held at Davao Recreation Center or Almendras Gym.
  • Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan - (August 21, 2010). this is one of the highlights of the Kadayawan festival. It is a street dancing featuring different colors, cultures and traditional dances of various tribes in Mindanao. This will be viewed in the major thoroughfares in Davao City and will start at 7:00 o'clock in the morning. The showdown of the Indak-indak will be at San Pedro street in the afternoon of August 21, 2010.
  • Pasasalamat mass " Thanksgiving mass" - (August 22, 2010) - A Holy Eucharist will will be held at the San Pedro Cathedral at 7:00 o'clock in the morning. This is a thanksgiving mass of the people of Davao for the blessing received from Him.
  • Pamulak or Floral Float Parade - (August 22, 2010) - After the mass, another highlight of the Kadayawan festival will be witnessed in the major streets in the heart of Davao City. It is one of the main attractions of the festival. The floral float parade will color and enliven the main streets of the city with a mobile display of the blooming flowers and fruits which are creatively decorated in floats during the parade implying abundance.
  • Display of portraits and landscapes painting of Engr. Manuel Medros - (Aug.11-Sept.11, 2010) - this will be at Museo Dabawenyo.
  • Agri-trade fair - (whole month of August) - this fair is a display and sale of flowers, fruits, livestock and other locally made products at SM City Davao Future Developments Site.

  4. To Anonymous, this list of events are the official events organized by the government or affiliated by the kadayawan festivities. A lot of other events organized by private sectors are also gonna happen which are not listed here. Regarding the cycle road race, there's usually that event during Kadayawan but I don't know who the organizers are. Thanks for the visit and God bless.
